Salle Medecin
The Salle Médecin makes up the east wing of the Casino, via the restaurant "Les Privés" built on its terrace and whose large picture windows afford splendid views of the Cap-Martin. The Salle Médecin, named after Monegasque architect François Médecin, is also known as the Salle Empire because of the mahogany engraved with gold and the wall hangings. Inaugurated in 1910 - the year Massenet's "Don Quixote" was created in Monaco - this room was home to a private gaming circle that ensured total privacy for the big players. Nowadays, three adjoining "Super Privé" small but luxurious gaming rooms provide much sought-after privacy.
