Le Café de Paris
Le Café de Paris
Monte-Carlo's first café was originally called the Café Divan. It became the Café de Paris and went through many transformations until the art deco style triumphed in the 1930s. It immediately became a favourite haunt amongst Monaco's smart set. One such client even made what one can only describe as a particularly spectacular entrance...
Edouard Michelin lost control of his motor car one day and crashed into one of the café's pillars! In 1988, the Café de Paris - magnificently renovated whilst retaining its Belle Époque exterior-celebrated its 120th anniversary and modernised gaming rooms covering some 13 000m. Out went the 1960s bowling alley... in came table games and slots machines in a decor inspired by the various Historic Grand Prix.
