Chemin de Fer
Based on the same principles as Baccarat, Chemin de Fer (French for "railroad") gets its name from the shoe in which the 6 packs of 52 cards are placed. The shoe is passed from one player to another and goes around the table several times (thus each player can be a banker in turn). The highest score is 9. The lowest score is 0 (baccarat). Remember that the Ace is worth 1, the face cards are worth 10, and the other cards retain their nominal value. To obtain the results, one adds up the scores and deducts 10 or the multiples of 10. The shoe‹which goes around the table clockwise‹is kept by the Banker as long as he is winning the coup. He distributes two hands of two cards each by dealing first to the Player, then to the Bank. The Player looks at his cards and either says "card" from 0 to 4, or "no" at 6 or 7. At 5, the player has the choice to take a card or to stand. At 8 or 9, he lays down his hand and the game ends.
